ABR Ep. 20 Reece "Highlight" Humphrey

We're going Belly to Belly this week on ABR in honor of the UWW World Championships, this is 3 x World Team member and the Head Coach of the New Jersey Regional Training Center, Reece "Highlight" Humphrey. Reece is currently in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan where two NJRTC team members are representing the United States of America in Freestyle Wrestling. Tyler Graff (65kg) and Pat Downey (86kg) will begin competing on Thursday in their quest to be World Champions.

Reece discussed the NJRTC program and it's unique set up using both the Princeton University and Rutgers University wrestling facilities, growing up in a wrestling family but finding wrestling on his own, cutting weight, building your brand, the benefits of wrestling year round, and having fun while still working hard as Tyler Graff, Pat Downey, Anthony Ashnault, Nate Jackson, CJ Brucki, Bryce Meredith, prepare for the qualifying selection process for the 2020 Olympic Team.

Alright y'all here is episode 19 with Drew McManus lead singer and song writer for the band Satsang. Drew is our first two time guest and this time we had him in studio. While he was in Colorado for the Arise Festival, he came down to the studio to go belly to belly with the boys of 1512.
In this episode we talked about Drew's favorite Satsang song and the meaning behind it. We also discussed the impact that martial arts has had on him and finding the balance of being Zen but also not taking anyone's "BS" and his favorite MC of all time.

Joe Compagni is the most successful coach in the history Monmouth University Athletics. Since Compagni took over in 1995, the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams have won a total of 58 conference titles in both the NEC and MAAC. The Hawks have also won one ECAC and one IC4A team title. He has been named NEC, MAAC, and NCAA Regional Coach of the Year 58 times – 27 times in the NEC, 23 times in the MAAC, and 8 times as a USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Since 2001, Monmouth track & field athletes have earned 25 NCAA Div. I All-America honors, the most of any sport on the Monmouth campus.

ABR Ep. 13 Dr Amy Wachholtz

Dr. Amy Wachholtz graduatedDr. Amy Wachholtz with a Master of Divinity degree from Boston University and a specialized graduate degree in Bioethics from a joint Harvard University and Boston University program. She the continued her education to earn her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University where she had a dual specialization in Behavioral Medicine and Psychology of Religion. She completed her internship through fellowship training at Duke University where she focused on medical psychology and pain management. She also recently completed a post-doctoral Master’s degree in Psychopharmacology.

Her research and clinical interests focus on 1) the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model for chronic pain disorders and palliative care, and 2) the complexities of treating of co-morbid pain and opioid addiction in both acute pain and chronic pain situations. Her research encompasses bench to bedside methodology from psycho-physiological research methods to testing improved patient treatments and has resulted in over 100 publications and presentations.

Mark Genco is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black and he has his Master's in Buddhist Studies from Naropa University in Boulder Colorado. In his book "Inner Jiu Jitsu" Mark integrates Jiu Jitsu principles with Eastern Philosophy along with a Positive Mental Attitude as a way of life.

Legally blind since birth, Anthony Ferraro found wrestling in middle school and through hard work and determination found a fair amount of success amassing 122 career wins in high school. The 2013 film "A Shot in the Dark" chronicles the highs and lows of Anthony's senior year of high school. When the film was released in 2017it caught the attention of Marc Vink, team leader of the US Paralympic Judo program. We caught up with Anthony to discuss his journey and preparation for the 2020 games in Tokyo.
